Derelict Drop-in

The notorious Helena Star freighter was caught smuggling 37 tons of marijuana to Washington State four decades ago. It was recently towed to Seattle from Tacoma where it sank in 2013 after years of neglect. I took this photo, with the assistance of David Baker, kayaking near the Ballard Locks where the derelict sits in dry dock awaiting salvage
